About Us

Empowering Independence with Compassionate Support

Hi, I’m Danielle Shields, the heart behind Whole Ability. I’ve been working in the disability sector since 2017, starting in Supported Independent Living (SIL) homes, where I built strong, hands-on experience supporting individuals in their daily routines and personal development. I later stepped up into a Team Leader role within SIL, a position I held for two years, guiding and mentoring staff while continuing to provide direct support to participants. Following that, I worked as a Team Leader in day programs, where I supported participants to build skills, connect with their community, and explore activities that matched their goals and interests. These experiences have shaped my passion for personalised, participant-led support which is what led me to start Whole Ability as an independent support worker. When you work with me, you’ll get someone who is experienced, reliable, and truly cares about helping you live life your way.
